Does Your Body Know Its ABC's??

What are Glyconutritionals?

The Greek word "Glyco" means "Sugar". Most people think of sugar as being bad for you. However, there are actually TWO kinds of sugars. One is the refined or "extracellular" sugars which have been long associated with human disease. The other sugars are "intracellular" which can be found in fruits and vegetables and provide the body with nutrition it needs. These sugars, also known as " complex carbohydrates " , have been studied for years. However, only recently have we begun discovering their purpose in the body.

An increasing number of scientists believe that certain carbohydrates represent the next frontier in the search for non-toxic treatments for various degenerative conditions. Even though we have just begun to scratch the surface in understanding the full potential of these carbohydrates, the research being reported in just the last decade has ignited a new level of hope and optimism with some of the world's leading immunologists. The March 23, 2001 issue of Science Magazine is devoted to the topic of cellular communication and the role that simple sugars play in that arena.

Healthy bodies are comprised of many components working together in sophisticated harmony, and must have accurate internal communication to function correctly. In it's most basic form, this communication occurs at the cellular level. Glyonutrients form what can be referred to as the " alphabet " of your body!

To maintain a healthy body, cells must "talk" to each other. Their language is one of touch, written in saccharides (or simple sugars) on the cell surfaces. These simple sugars combine with other molecules to make glycoforms such as glycoproteins when combined with proteins or glycolipids when combined with fat. Of the 200 monosaccharides that occur naturally in plants, 8 have been discovered to be components in the cell surface glycoforms (see Harper's Textbook of Biochemistry--1996). Like thousands of different "keys" projecting from the cell surface, they will either unlock the required functions of the adjoining cell or not. If the right keys are available, the body functions smoothly. If not, it doesn't. Acta Anatomica, a European journal, states that these simple sugars have a coding capacity that surpasses that of amino acids!!

Only two of the eight monosaccharides are found in today's diet. Our diets have changed in response to the demands for quicker, cheaper food. Consequently, we are not eating foods that contain the necessary fuels for our cells to communicate in a healthy, effective manner. While our body has the capacity to manufacture these simple sugars, the conversion process is complicated. During the conversion process your cells are exposed to tens of thousands of free radical hits each day. This requires time, energy and a host of other micronutrients in order to complete the conversion. Viruses can also interfere with our body's ability to make these conversions. People who are ill or who have inborn errors of metabolism are especially vulnerable to a breakdown in the process. Whenever the monosaccharides cannot be made, communication is slowed down or impaired as a result.

Since your body has more than trillion cells and fully regenerates all of its cells in approximately 1 year, any miscommunication or slowdown could cause major health problems. With millions of cells regenerating each day, it's easy to imagine what could happen if during this process, the cells didn't regenerate correctly. This is why glyconutritional supplements are so very important!

So what are the experts saying about these powerful compounds? Check out some compelling evidence that the scientific and medical world are jumping on board by leaps and bounds:

So the obvious question becomes, " what can all this science do for me? " Well, no one can claim a cure for anything, but imagine what would happen in your body and consequently your health when your cells are given the proper building blocks to restore and maintain wellness in every system of your body? This is solid science with solid proof in hundreds of thousands of people. The next question is, " what will YOU do with this powerful information?

know anything that has to do with body and health that starts with the letter Z? I'm doing a project where I have to make a book on things of the body in ABC order. I have all the other 25 letters but I just can't find anything for Z. Do you have any ideas?

Is body dysmorphia looking in the mirror and seeing something that's not there? I'm 15 and I have body dysmorphia, and I'm curious as to how it works and how you can look in the mirror and see what everybody else sees. I've been told I'm very attractive but I think I'm hideous, and I complain about things about my image and other people say that they're not there. How can I look in the mirror and see what it there?

Aaron

Admin 08.03.2010. 02:18

Only use a small hand mirror to check appearance, so just a small part of the body may be seen at a time, yet anything wrong will still be immediately apparent; cover (taping over/painting) full length mirrors. Check out www.bddcentral/mainpage2.aspx and http://www.ocdla.com/bodydysmorphicdisor? and www.mental-health-abc.com and www.psychforums.com/viewforum.php and http://p066.ezboard.com/bbodydysmorphicd? and http://www.bbc.co.uk/health/conditions/b? and http://bddvictims.lefora.com/headlines/ Practice a relaxation method, daily, and when needed, such as www.drcoxconsulting.com/managing-stress.html or http://altmedicine.about.com/cs/mindbody/a/Meditation.htm and/or Tai Chi, Qi Gong, or yoga. Other things worth trying: Enter "EFT" in the searchbar, at www.mercola.com (free), & "EFT therapists (professional is recommended) a good tryout, to see if it helps you. There is a version for use in public places, (you could claim to have a headache, as you use the acupressure massage/tapping on your temples, but you would then be restricted to subvocalising: repeating to yourself in your mind): "Even though I have a distorted body image, I deeply and completely accept myself". All of these things are designed to bolster the central sense of identity, enable emotional centering, and changing the focus from that of a person's appearance. When you notice something negative, such as: "I'm never going to get over this!" or: "Why am I always so pathetic/useless/such a loser?" or even: "I can't do this/will never get over this!", or a disturbing image, recognise that this is part of the mindset which will hold you back from progress.

Having identified and labelled it, visualise a large red "STOP!" sign, and/or possibly a stern faced person wagging an index finger at you in a negative manner, then say to yourself as forcefully as you can, even aloud in a big voice, if alone: "I know this tactic: GO AWAY FOR A WHILE !!!" You may want to use either: "ruse", "ploy", "game", or "trick", instead of "tactic". In the case of an image, visualise a large "STOP" sign, or your preferred version. Some people go so far as to keep a wide rubber band in their pocket, then put it around their wrist, when they catch themselves backsliding, stretch and release it, as a method of reprogramming their mind sooner, but I don't regard it as being strictly necessary. Remember to remove it, afterwards, if you use this method. It may well be worthwhile going to the Groups, at Myspace, Google, and Yahoo, to find others with the disorder, and see what has worked for them. View: http://www.femalefirst.co.uk/board/about? and take the quiz at http://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/bhcv2? Print the result; take to a doctor, and ask for an appropriate referral. How much weight can you lose with ABC diet? I think only people with eating disorder would understand this. I'm so tired of my binge and fast cycle. Although I don't gain as much but I hate it, I gotta get out of this cycle really soon. I was just 3 pounds away from my goal weight then gained it all back in a 4 consecutive days binging on carbs and sugar mostly. I'm wondering how much weight I can lose with ABC diet because I think I'm hitting a plateau where I can't lose anymore weight although I do exercises 3 to 4 times a week, vigorous basketball training each time. I'm nearly 17, height is 5'8 or 173 cm, and I weigh 115 pounds or 52 kgs in average. Yes, I have an eating disorder, judge me, just don't post junks in my answer box. Thanks <3 x

Does any body know of any bartending schools that are cheap ? I am already a bartender but i have not been doing it for 2 years just a year an a few months.I want to get my license but i don't want to pay $700.00 (ABC Bartending School) sit in a class for 5days to teach me some of the things i already know.I live in Chicago.

Admin 31.01.2010. 06:18

Hi, you do need a bartending license there is no such license. If you are referring to a diploma from a school you do not need a diploma to get a job. There is not a bar anywhere that will ask you for a diploma from a school. There are some states that require you to take a short class - alcohol server education class. Then you get a alcohol server education certificate after you take the class. You live in Chicago and that is one of the states that does not require you to take the course {its optional} in the state you live in . But if I was you, I would call the bars you plan on applying to for a job and just ask the bartender if she had to take the class to work there. And ask her if the bar paid for her to attend the class if that bar required her to be certified. Bartenders do not mind answering a question. This will just ease you mind . Just go and apply for a job you already have the experience. As far as I can see there is nothing to pay for. Hope this info was helpful. Bartendingexposed.com

The two things that have given me a better body are:

- Jogging and
- Seeing a personal trainer.

You need to do cardio exercise about 5 times a week. Swimming, cycling, running, walking. And also do some weights and resistance exercises like the ones on this page:

http://www.abc-of-fitness.com/info/fitness-exercises.asp

You don't need much equipment.

What is a human body part that starts with R? I need this question for my anatomy homework. We have to have an ABC book (I know..seriously) Then list some facts about it (getting not so babyish) Then we have to draw a picture. I am stuck on the letter R though! So if you have any answers please help, but if there is none then just tell me something creative for me to put down. Thanks!

What does the body use to produce breast milk? I'm not sure if this is more appropriate in the pregnancy section or the newborn and baby section, but I'm curious about what the body uses to produce breast milk.

I know the whole supply/demand etc cycle; I'm asking what the body draws from to actually generate the milk.
I'm curious, not worried. :)

I'd love to have some documentation to use to counter all of the "you can't eat yadda yadda when you're nursing because it'll get into your milk" silly stuff. You wouldn't happen to have any links, would you? ;)

The same as everything else the body makes, it draws from your blood and other bodily fluids.

Why is it that no one ever worries how the body makes bile, or blood, or bone marrow?

Can a nursing mother eat this food? FAQs

PS some proteins do get into your milk but it varies by the individual mother, also allergies are rare in breast fed babies. Pregnant and nursing women are now being told to eat peanuts to avoid their child having a peanut allergy because as usual the medical community put in guidelines and protocols without bothering to research them. They are no attributing the drastic increase in peanut allergies in the UK and Australia to telling women not to eat peanuts during pregnancy and breastfeeding and not give children peanuts until age 3.

Nice.
