Many people think that drastic measures are required in order to have flawless, youthful skin. Nothing could be further from the truth. It's possible to have better looking skin starting with things you already have in your home; no cosmetic surgery or expensive makeup required!

Healthy skin is moist and produces adequate amounts of oil from the sebaceous glands, producing a natural " glow. " Plump skin cells fit together like a carefully constructed mosaic, where each one has its own place. When skin cells dry out, however, they begin to lift and separate at an angle, giving skin a dull, flaky look that makes the skin appear older.

The two main causes for dry skin are environmental factors (weather, chemicals, the use of the wrong personal care products) and poor diet. In order to look great on the outside, you must first treat yourself right from within. A regular balanced diet is the number one defense against wrinkles, outbreaks and dry skin conditions. However, certain foods have properties that are most important for that glow that we crave. Here we'll talk a bit about some of these foods, and you'll see how quickly you can achieve radiant skin without breaking the bank.

Most moisture for your skin is provided through your bloodstream. The bloodstream is responsible for pumping nutrients and minerals into your system which are carried through that moisture. Without being properly hydrated, nutrients and minerals in your bloodstream may never reach your skin, making them useless in keeping your skin youthful. The oil that your skin produces is not directly responsible for moisturizing, but instead helps to keep moisture in. An inadequate amount of oil will allow excessive evaporation or the moisture in your skin, allowing it to dry out quickly.

Foods rich in protein are essential for skin regeneration and repair. Not just any protein will do. The Atkins diet, which boasts of it low carb dieting results, allows for many types of protein that can cause damage to your skin. Any kind of processed meat, such as bacon, hot dogs or deli meats are loaded with preservatives and salt that will do nothing but pull moisture from your skin. Better sources of protein would include seafood (salmon in particular is a very good choice), lean fowl (turkey, chicken) and vegetable protein. Veggie protein is often overlooked, as American society is accustomed to " meat with every meal. " Try tofu or beans as a high quality protein source. Another healthy practice is to eat lots of raw foods every day. Canned and frozen vegetables may provide some nutrients, but only raw veggies and fruits will contain the enzymes necessary to prevent free radical damage. If you absolutely must cook vegetables, steam them lightly and eat al dente.

Certain vitamins and minerals are crucial to youthful skin, including sulfur. In its natural form from foods such as garlic, onions, eggs and asparagus, sulfur with help to keep skin smooth and youthful. You can also take an L-systeine supplement which will also provide adequate amounts of sulfur for healthy skin. A lack of either Vitamin A or B can make your skin chapped or cracked. Beta-carotene is as good for your skin as it is for your eyes. Don't limit yourself to carrots; any type of yellow or orange vegetable is loaded with them. Good examples are squashes and peppers.

Alpha-hydroxy acids are responsible for keeping your skin pH balanced. You can get them from foods such as apples, grapes, blackberries, citrus fruits, tomatoes and milk. Essential fatty acids (EFAs) found in fish (especially salmon), dark leafy vegetables (kale, collards, dandelions) and flax seeds are also extremely important for your skin. Lactic acid helps to improve your skin's moisture content, while glycolic acid removes dead skin cells that make your skin look dry and flaky. Eating foods containing these two EFAs will assist in healthy, glowing skin.

If you're willing to spend a little (just a little), there are a couple of supplements that will powerboost your healthy eating habits. If you find that you can only take one supplement, let it be Vitamin E. It prevents the formation of free radicals and helps repair skin cells damaged from scrapes, burns and bruises. Aloe Vera is another skin healer as well as moisturizer, and can be used topically from the aloe plant, or consumed as a juice found in supermarkets and health food stores. Kelp is an excellent source of nutrients due to its absorption from sea water and is available in several forms.

Junk foods should especially be avoided when trying to maintain healthy skin. Eliminating soda, sugar and other empty-calorie foods will not only improve your skin's appearance, but will help take off the extra pounds. Fried foods are especially bad, because hot-processed oils (such as those found in the supermarket) actually create free radicals and can destroy that look you've been working so hard for. Alcohol and caffeine should also be avoided, as these and other types of diuretics make the body lose fluids and essential minerals, which dries out your skin.

Each of these foods and supplements are easy to find in your local supermarket or health store, and will cost you much less than the myriad of skin care products which promise unrealistic results. In just a few days, you'll notice that your skin will begin to produce adequate amounts of oil naturally, and will no longer show signs of being dull, scaly, flaky or tight. Chapping and cracking during the winter will be much less likely to occur as well. Most importantly, these tips will help you to slow down the effects of aging, such as fine lines and wrinkles, brown spots, enlarged pores and sagging skin.

How do you get naturally straight hair? I'm 15 and I straighten my hair EVERY SINGLE DAY, And it continues to damage my hair, of course. I do not use heat protectant, should I? I heard if I use that everyday when I straighten my hair will go back to being natural straight from when I was 1-12 years old.I cannot afford the Japanese or Brazilian treatment. Everyone deals with what they're born with. Less damage to the hair. If you've got curly or wavy hair, deal with it. The more you fuzz with it, the more you damage your hair. Tampering with what you're born with, combined with chemicals can result in hair loss.

You heard "heat protectant doesn't protect hair 100%. Like sunscreen, you still get sunburned. Same with hair. . . . who were your source? People your own age? People who've damaged their hair? The hair industry is a billion dollar business, their main job is to sell and make profits. They sell products that cleans & conditions the hair, they also sell products that kills the hair, and even worst if you've got allergic reactions.

I know hair. I have over 4 decades of hair know-how. I have silky, shiny, soft, smooth very healthy hair down to my knees. Previously damaged by perming & dyeing in the 80's & 90's. I've known people in their 30's whose hair stopped growing from ironing their hair in the 70's. When I was in HS, my hair grew from bob to waist length in 3 1/2 to 4 years, and cut 2x a year.

Back when I was little, all we've ever used in Asia, was a bar of soap, for our hair, bodies & laundry, and mom had started perming our hair by 1st grade! We didn't use hot water, or hair dryer, we didn't have that.
We DID set our hair in plastic curlers or styled it when it's damp, and it remained styled until we get home from school. Curlers have been around since the 50's, and they're still USED today! Tames curly/wavy hair, makes them softer, silkier, shinier, & smoother.

What is the best primer for oily skin? I have SUPER oily skin! Like i mean REALLY BAD! I put my makeup on at like 630 am and by 8 my face is super oily. Im buying all new makeup to help this problem but I can't find a good primer. What is the best primer to keep skin matte almost all day? Or at least 6 hours. Thanks!
Oh and by the way price doesn't matter! It just can't be like $50. $35 is my max.

I like Pur Minerals primer. Also their 3-1 makeup would be good for you since it's a powder foundation. Don't use liquid for oily. Also here are some ways to reduce oily skin.

1. Getting rid of sulfate cleansers. I use Neutrogena Naturals now. It's sulfate free and it doesn't have any parabens or crap like that. Sulfates dry out the skin which in turn can make you produce more oils. So this is the easiest to start with. Also acne washes can have the same effect.
2. Getting a light weight moisturizer. Again I like Neutrogena for this. Theirs is light weight but not super watery to where it's like you didn't put anything on at all. If you don't moisturize your skin will again produce a lot of oils to replenish your skin.
3. A good Vitamin Toner. I use Pur Minerals Fulvic mineral mist. It's packed with tons of vitamins that helps your skin stay healthy. It also contains vitamin C which helps with oilyness. Vitamin toners are just great overall.
4. Get rid of cheap makeup. Cheap makeup is bad for your skin. It can create acne, rashes, excessive oil, dullness and irritation. Like I said I use Pur Minerals because their makeup doesn't have harsh chemicals in it either. It's also good for sensitive skin. I use their 3-1 which is a foundation, concealer and finishing powder. If you get their kit(it's 39) you get the 3-1 in your shade, their foundation brush(which you need to use it as a foundation), primer, bronzer and mascara. So it's a good deal for the 3 things you really need. The rest you can use or give to a friend.
5. Drink more water and cut out sodas and junk foods. What you eat and drink impacts your skin a ton. I cut out juices, soda, diet drinks and junk foods. I saw a huge difference but was still breaking out more than I wanted. So I dug even more and found out that wheat, even whole wheat, is actually bad for you. Yeah you need carbs and fiber but you get those from fruits and veggies. So cutting grains out of your diet as well can help with your skin issues, mostly acne if you have it. If you want help with how to eat without grains go to Marks Daily Apple. You can search whatever you want there. It's a huge site and very resourceful when it comes to healthy eating.
6. Work out. Stress can cause acne and make your body produce excessive oils and guess what is a huge stress reliever? Working out. Doesn't have to be like 2 hours of cardio. You could go for like a 30 minute swim, walk or whatever you enjoy.
7. Get at LEAST 7 hours of sleep. Anything less and you will be tired and your body will not function like it should which means guess what isn't taken care of like it should? Your skin. Instead your body will use the vitamins it gets to help your vital organs function, aka, lungs, heart, brain etc.
8. Get oil blotting sheets. Humans produce oils naturally and while you can reduce it greatly you can't get rid of it. So get some oil blotting sheets from clean and clear to help with oil you do get. It also doesn't take off makeup. :)

Stay out of the sun. Skin pales in the dark and tans in the sun. Stay out of the sun or wear the highest SPF you can find. Always head for the shade.
Wear more clothes. The less skin exposed to the light, the less chance you will have to tan.
Alter your appearance. Dark clothing and hair will contrast with your skin and make you seem paler. This is entirely optional.
Take Care of Your Skin. Wash, moisturize, exfoliate and ensure your skin is healthy. Healthy skin will help.
Use a whitening cream. Whitening creams are amazing, and can really lighten skin. Choose a safe product and read all warnings! Alternatively, you can look up natural methods for whitening. Milk, for example, is a natural skin whitener.
Apply lemon and amounts of water to even out with the lemon on the parts of the body that you want the pale complexion to be. It will only take a few days for your skin to be pale be sure to do it about 3 times a day.
7. Sprinkle an ounce of baking soda in your bathtub so you can soak for 10 minutes ONCE a week.

If you must be outside, wear a high SPF, wrap up and stay in the shade as much as possible.
Simplifying the steps you take to getting and preserving your pale skin will help you stick to your routine.
Drinking green tea is good for your skin (antioxidants). Clear skin accentuates paleness.
If you're a guy then get a clean shave or wax on your face so you dont have dark skin around the areas where excess hair grows.

Makeup to make you look pale:

In this case, shimmer can be your friend. A striking eye color palette and shimmering lips against fair skin always makes for a stunning transformation that can be pulled off without much effort.

You never want to appear overdone when it comes to the makeup you use so play around with colors and shades and make your pale complexion work in harmony with your makeup, not against it.

You probably will not believe this. But please do try it a few times, before throwing the thought away. Since i have experience in this with myself, and the people i have helped out.

Getting cravings of any kind, is more to do with boredom and the free mind, than actually being hungry. To kill that extra "needing of food" i strongly reccomend, fill up your time with VERY productive work. This can be studying a subject of your interest. This could be taking up a new hobby (which is not eating lol). This could be joining a type of club where you can meet new friends.

Before i continue i have a small story to tell you to give as an exmaple of why boredom can be a big issue. When my cousins came over from abroad to visit me. We were out all day in the car. We talked, joked and just relaxed. We even slept late on many occasions. Most of what we ate was KFC almost every single day. we didnt have that much money so we only ate a bit of it. But during the 3 months they were there, i lost 7 kilos without even trying. I did not workout, i did not purposely eat less. Only thing was, i was busy everyday. Too busy to binge eat anytime.

Now other medically proven ways to reduce appetite.

- Exercise : This can be jogging, fast walking and i strongly reccomend weight training. You will be tired by the end of the day, that you will sleep on time. And not have those late night cravings we all get at times!! (Late night eating is why many ppl stay fat).

Drink plenty of water: Okay im not saying flood ur system with water here. Only 8-12 glasses of water. This will not only reduce appetite. It will boast your skin quality, your eyes will shine some how (happened to me!! and others i know). Your mood will be so much better, you wont care about eating as much.

Social Life: i know i said this above. but This is important. If i havent spoken to that many people in the day. i will feel hungry for some strange reason. Even saying hi to the person sitting next to you on the bus!! lol i know sounds weird, but every little helps.

Eat Healthy: Aim to eat healthy. But dont feel guilty if you eat something that you know is unhealthy. guilt will make you more hungry! So just enjoy your cheat days, but also aim to eat healthy. To start with, Eat an apply before every meal. This will reduce appetite greatly. You may not feel like eating an apple, but once you force yourself a few times, you will generally eat less.

Before i go. I have to say, this will be hard in the first week or so. But your body will adjust. Your stomach intestines will decrease in size (its natural) and you will then have less of an appetite in generall. I did this, and i couldnt even eat a whole burger at one point!! Which scared me since i could eat 3 burgers easyly!!

The so called "superfoods" are best for you - stuffed with anti-oxidants and vitamins you cant go wrong with them :) not all fruit but they are the best foods for you :)

1. Apples
Over 7,500 varieties of apple are grown throughout the world. They are packed full of antioxidants, especially vitamin C for healthy skin and gums - one apple provides a quarter of your daily requirement of vitamin C.
Apples also contain a form of soluble fibre called pectin that can help to lower blood cholesterol levels and keep the digestive system healthy.
An apple is also a carbohydrate with a low glycaemic index (GI) type.
Low GI foods are digested slowly; once they are finally broken down in the intestine they are gradually absorbed into the bloodstreams as glucose, causing a gradual rise in blood sugar levels.
They may help with weight control, as well as improving diabetics' long-term control of blood sugar levels.

3. Broccoli
Just two florets - raw or lightly cooked - count as a veggie portion.
Not only does broccoli contain antioxidants including vitamin C but it's a particularly good source of folate (naturally occuring folic acid).
Increasing your intake of folic acid is thought to be of major benefit in preventing heart disease.
Broccoli also contains an antioxidant called lutein that can delay the progression of age-related macular degeneration (AMD). This affects 10 per cent of people over 60 and is a major cause of impaired vision and blindness.
Finally, broccoli also contains a phytochemical called sulphoraphane that has specific anti-cancer properties.
4. Olive oil
Several large studies suggest that the monosaturated fat in olive oil is good for the heart. Olive oil lower bad cholesterol levels and increases the good levels.
Olive oil is also rich in antioxidants - it's probably one of the key protective aspects of the so-called Mediterranean diet.
Watch out for the calories - a little goes a long way. A tablespoon of oil contains 120 kilocalories, which is the same as a large slice of bread and butter.

5. Wholegrain Seeded Bread
Breads containing a lot of seeds and wholegrain have a low GI, which can protect against heart disease, reduce hunger pangs, and help with weight control.
They are also packed with fibre, which keeps the gut working efficiently; and seeded breads contain essential fatty acids.
Studies show that including four flices of soya and linseed bread a day can give a does of phytoestrogens, through to relieve "hot flushes" in menopausal women.
The downside is that bread contains a lot of salt. However, the good news is that bread manufacturers have started to use less salt in their pre-packaged bread.
6. Salmon
All fish is a source of good-quality protein, vitamins, and minerals, but oily fish such as salmon also contains omega 3 fats that reduce blood clotting and inflammation.
Studies show that eating oily fish dramatically recues the risk of having a heart attack, even in older adults.
Omega 3 fats also help to prevent depression, and protect against the onset of dementia. Yep, it's true, fish really is an all-round brain food.

The drink loved by all Britons has a range of useful properties. The caffeine content is helpful for stimulating alertness, mood and motivation.
Tea counts towards the recommended eight cups of fluid daily, which is the minimum to avoid dehydration.
Tea, whether black or green, is a rich source of the antioxidant called catechins. Studies suggest that catechins protect the artery walls against the damage that causes heart disease and prevents formation of sticky blood clots.
Some population studies suggest as little as one cuppa a day seems to offer some protection.
8. Yogurt
Yogurt is an easily absorbed source of calcium. It's also a useful milk subsitute for people who can't digest large amounts of the milk sugar, lactose.
Yogurt has long been credited with a range of therapeutic benefits, many of which involve the health of the large intestine and the relief of gastrointestinal upsets.
The bacteria Lactobacillus GG, added to some yoghurt, are not digested, and reach the large intestine intact where they top up the other friendly bacteria living there.
The friendly bacteria fight harmful bacteria, including Clostridium difficile that can cause diarrhoea after a course of antibiotics.

10. Brazil nuts
All nuts are generally full of essential vitamins, minerals and fibre. Recent studies suggest that eating a small handful of nuts four times a week can help reduce heart disease and satisfy food cravings.
Brazil nuts are one of the few good sources of selenium that may help protect against cancer, depression and Alzheimer's disease.

You can't actually be immune from disease unless your body naturally produced or inherited antibodies that battle infection, and likewise had a mechanism for dealing with viruses. That said, there are a number of ways to minimize your chances of getting infections or getting over them quickly.

1. Healthy diet: This one is easy to follow as long as you know some basic nutrition facts. You will want to follow guidelines but vary your diet according to your own needs and allergies ( Some people have an adverse reaction to sugar that isn't even an allergy, and these things you can't find out about until you try the food in question. The key is in not eating prepackaged and especially oily processed foods where possible, and to limit your daily intake of salt. Drink plenty of water, but spread it out over the day.

2. Exercise: Your heart is a muscle, and many of your body's functions depend on you being in a fit state. A half an hour of solid power-walking is all you really need if you're already at a good weight. Combined with a good diet, your body will be at tip top condition for dealing with disease.

3. Supplements: You should be careful with this one and do some research about available minerals in foods grown in your area. If you're Australian for example, you may find you need some Selenium in your diet since the soil in Australia lacks it.
