The immune system in your body is an amazing functionality that produces antibodies to fight against any infections whether it is bacterial, fungal, or cancers. Any micro organism that invades our body is kept under check and it is destroyed by the immune system in our body. Any intrusion by a micro organism alerts the immune system and it produces antibodies against that particular micro organism to destroy it.

There are many types of immune system problems that are to be noted and can be divided into four categories. The first category of the problems is the immunodeficiency disorders. It can be primary or acquired. The second category of the immune systems disorders is the autoimmune disorders in which the immune system attacks its own cells.

The third category of the immune system problems is that the immune system over reacts to an antigen and this type is called allergic disorders. The fourth and final type of immune system problems is the cancers of the immune system.The immunodeficiency disorders are one of the immune system problems. These problems can be primary or acquired. The primary type of immunodeficiency disorder can be IgA deficiency which is the most common of the problems of the immune system of this kind.

IIgA is an immunoglobulin found in the body. The deficiency of this IgA antibody is one of the immune deficiency diseases. If IgA is not found in the required quantity it will be difficult for the immune system to fight against the infections. People with IgA deficiency are found to have more colds and other respiratory diseases. It is possible for them to have allergies.

Some of the children are born without a thymus gland which is essential for the T lymphocytes. Without this gland it would not be possible for the immune system to fight against infections.

People with weak immune system can take immunity booster which will improve the immune system and produce the required antibodies to fight against any infections. Allopathic, herbal, and homeopathic immunity booster can be used to enhance the immune system. There are many natural herbal medications available to boost the immune system. Echinacea, Licorice, Siberian ginseng, and Ashwagandha are some of the herbs that help in boosting the immune system of our body.

Food supplements containing Vitamin C and Vitamin E, minerals like Zinc, Iron, and Selenium can be taken to improve the immune system. Food items that are rich in vitamin C are citrus fruits, green peppers, cantaloupes and broccoli. Whole grain foods and vegetable oils are rich in Vitamin E. Meats, dried beans and tofu has rich Iron content. Fish, grains and nuts have rich selenium content.

There are many factors that weaken your immune system.
In the same way, there are many things you can do to improve your immune system. Some are avoiding the things that weaken it, here is a sample.

1) Toxins: Most people today have excess accumulation of toxins and waste material in their bodies causing their body to be acidic and adding stress to their immune system function. The two main reasons for this is
a) People are putting huge amounts of toxins (mostly unknowingly) in their bodies on a regular basis and
b) their elimination channels are clogged, slow or sluggish.
c) toxins like "junk" food, medications(drugs), sugars, excess alcohol, allergens all stress your immune system, thus making it weak and unable to fight the germs when exposed to them.

2) Nutritional Deficiency:
When your body lacks nutrition, you will have a weak immune system.
Since our bodies can not produce nutrients needed for optimal health, quality food plays a major factor in keeping our cells healthy and our immune system strong. Food not only provides energy to your body, but all the nutrients that are essential for a healthy immune system.

3) Lack of drinking healthy water:
Dehydration means the cells just simply do not have enough fluid. Dehydration cause medical problems including pain, arthritis, asthma, and allergies, among other medical issues. It can affect your energy and your sleep, and the ability to get toxins/waste material out of the body.

4) Lack of physical activity:
Lack of regular, moderate exercise appears to slow down cleansing the body of certain toxins and waste products

5) Lack of sufficient rest:
lack of sleep will stress your immune system and thus increase the risk of catching a bug.

6) Chronic stress
People who are under chronic stress have lower than normal white blood cell counts, are more vulnerable to colds and other viruses and take longer to recover from them. They are more likely to experience more severe symptoms than people who are not under a great deal of stress.

The good news is you can improve your immune system by doing as many of the following list as possible....

1) keep practicing good personal hygiene care, wash your hands! The great plague of 1918 could have been avoided by practicing good personal hygiene.

2) get plenty of rest. During deep sleep, our body release potent immune-enhancing substances that strengthen your immune system function. By not allowing our body sufficient rest, the immune system will sputter, and as a result, not function at full capacity. We then are more likely to become ill with common illnesses. A healthy, deep sleep allows our body to release a significant amount of growth hormone that boost the immune system and aids in the growth and repair of the body.

3) get moderate and regular exercise
An increase in blood flow associated with moderate exercise helps to circulate antibodies along with white blood cells necessary to fight infection more quickly. As a result, this provides our bodies with an early warning system to ward off potentially damaging germs. In addition, the increase in body temperature as a result of physical activity may aid in inhibiting the growth of bacteria; thus allowing the body to fight infection more effectively.

4) Receiving a Regular Body Cleansing.
Body cleansing is essential because our bodies need to properly eliminate the toxic build up that has formed in our intestines (colon), which may lead to sickness and disease. Our body organs and tissues must be free of toxins for the immune system to function optimally thus enabling our bodies to receive the essential nutrients our bodies need.

5) Boost immune system by drinking plenty of filtered water.
Water is essential for all living things and keeps our immune system operating optimally while improving the way we feel, look and live. Without sufficient amounts of water, you may experience routine fatigue, dry skin, headaches, constipation, and a decrease normal bodily function which may lead to your body unable to fight off diseases. Without water we would literally dehydrate which could result in the shutting down of vital organs and ultimately end in death.

6) Eliminate all sugar and allergens from your diet.
Just a small amount of sugar has been proven to impair white blood cells up to 50% for very short periods of time. By discovering what our personal food allergies are, then eliminating or desensitizing them will help strengthen your immune system. By removing these triggers, our immune cells are strengthened in order to combat other invaders such as influenza rather than the allergen. The elimination of sugar from your diet can also strengthen immune system.

7) Eat nutritiously
Good foods to eat include organic fruits and vegetables, chloretta, medicinal mushrooms like maitake, shiitake, reishi, or turkey tail. Besides water, wheatgrass juice, aloe vera juice, or green tea are good drinks. If it doesn?t rot or sprout, do without.
Stay away from junk food like pop, bake goods, any processed foods. Bad foods contain stuff like refined sugar, sodium nitrite, Trans fats, Mono-sodium glutamate (MSG), Artificial colors, preservatives, and flavors.

8) Take supplements
Supplements are needed because our bodies can not produce the nutrients necessary to maintain optimum health. There are many nutrients needed in order to maintain a strong immune system. It is very challenging in the world we live in to obtain sufficient nutrition with the foods available to us. They are over processed and void of many essential nutrients. Additionally, food is grown in soils that have been over-planted and saturated with synthetic fertilizers and pesticides. Vitamin and mineral deficiency subjects us to more diseases, aging, sickness, and the weakening of our immune system.

Best herbs include echinacea, goldenseal, garlic, olive leaf extract, elderberry, or astragalus.

Best vitamins include Vitamin A, C, or E. These are a good source of antioxidants, which will boost your immune system.
The minerals zinc and selenium also help with boosting your immune system.

As you can see, there is no one magic cure, one supplement, or one way to improve your immune system, but there are many things you can do to help your situation.

How to improve immune system to my child? My son 7 yrs old, Who is frequently falling illness (fever, cold & cough etc) don't takie much food, but eating lots of snacks. However his body is lean and 15kgs weight. Due to allergy in lactose didnt take mother feed. How can I improve his immune system?

There are the obvious things of remove any source of allergens, make sure he's eating a healthy diet, and getting plenty of sleep, but there are a few other things that he could do to help his immune system. Daily exercise (or at least 3-4 times a week) is a great way to boost the immune system in time and even helps with allergies because the body releases natural anti-histamines when you exercise. If that's still not enough, you could also get a good child's Probiotic to help replenish the good bacteria (commonly killed off with antibiotics and most doctors don't recommend Probiotics to replenish what the body needs) and you could also try a product I've seen called Epicor Jr... one of the only immune system support products I've ever seen for children. If you can't find it in your local health food store, there are legit retailers online that carry it that I've seen... How do you build up your body's defenses to bacteria? How would you go about improving your immune system.
In addition, is there a way you can target your attempts at bacteria. How can you make yourself more resistant to bacteria?

Get sick a lot. The more you get sick (as a child usually) the more antibodies your body can produce, which helps you fight infections. Using a lot of soap and antibacterials can diminish your bodies ability to fight on its own because it is never exposed to bacteria. The more exposed you are to bacteria, the better you are at fighting it.

How do I improve my immune system? I had leukemia and a bone marrow transplant. I have been in remission for 2 years. But now, I have shingles because I have a compromised immune system. The shingles are not going away. I am taking acyclovir and altrax, but want to know if there is anything I can do to improve my immune system?

There are a lot of good natural supplements on the market to boost immune function and some of them are different kinds of mushrooms and herbs. Visit a very knowledgable herbalist or you can do some research online. Also make sure you get a lot of sleep every night. That is the time your body heals. Avoid stress, particularly with shingles. Yoga and meditation are very very valuable and very healing, and have been proven to boost immunity and prevent stress. Exercise also boosts immune function. Do what you can, some every day, even just walking or another good one is gentle aqua aerobics, but I would first check with your doctor about how the chlorine in the pool may or may not affect your shingles. I hope that helped. I have never had shingles, but I once had a compromised immune system due to multiple surgeries, and I went to a very good Chinese herbalist and she gave me herbs specifically for the immune system. I had to cook them and drink the liquid. I know it helped because I didn't catch nearly as many colds and flu as I did before. Good luck and hang in there and trust that your body has the innate intelligence to heal if you give it some loving support. .

Is drinking green tea every day enough to improve the functionality of my immune system? I know green tea is high in antioxidants and that antioxidants help rid your body of toxins which in turn helps strengthen the immune system. If I drink green tea every day, will it be significant enough to strengthen my immune system?

Vaccines make the body produce T and B memory cells so that when the real virus is introduced, the body already knows how to kill it.
This is why vaccines are usually just weaker versions of the actual virus.

What daily natural vitamin supplements help strengthen the immune system? I was recently told by a doctor that I have a generally weak immune system... I have the immune system of an elementary school kid. :( I am eighteen years old and I oppose taking pharmaceutical drugs whenever possible so can anyone suggest natural supplements that would help prevent sickness and help strengthen my immune system?

There are several aspects to the immune system. 75% to 80% of your immunity comes from the intestinal flora. Most people in America have very poor intestinal flora. Building up these bacteria takes time and is very important part of making your immune system strong. Antibiotics destroy these bacteria and just one antibiotic pill kills most of them. A healthy person should have about 3 pounds of these bacteria in their gut. Eating lots of fermented foods and making fermented foods like homemade kefir from RAW milk derived from grass feeding dairy cows is an excellent way to build those bacteria.

Generating a good supply of nucleotides in the peyer's patches of your small intestine is another very important thing to do. Any infection, injury, etc. will use up these guys very fast and replacing these is easy to do with good supplementation.

AVOID ALL supplements that have Magnesium Stearate in them. This is an immune suppressant and is found in most pills you buy in stores. BAD NEWS garbage. AVOID all supplements or fortified foods that use Ascorbic Acid as vitamin C. Ascorbic acid that is called vitamin C by many is not really vitamin C, but a component of the true vitamin C complex. Vitamin C was discovered by the Nobel Prize laureate, Dr. Albert Szent-Georgi in 1937. As part of his research on vitamin C, he found that he could not cure scurvy with the isolated ascorbic acid as a single element.

The complete complex of vitamin C includes ascorbic acid and contains ascorbinogen, bioflavonoids, rutin, tyrosinase, Factor J, Factor K, and Factor P. In addition, mineral co-factors must be available in proper amounts. If any of these parts are missing, there is no vitamin C, no vitamin activity. When some of them are present, the body will draw on its own stores to make up the differences, so that the whole vitamin complex may be present. Provided that all other conditions and co-factors are present, the vitamin activity will take place. Ascorbic acid is described merely as the "antioxidant wrapper" portion of vitamin C; ascorbic acid protects the functional parts of the vitamin from rapid oxidation or breakdown.

Check your vitamin D3 level of your blood. It should be between 50 - 60 nanograms per deciliter. This will greatly improve your body's ability to ward off diseases. Most Americans are severely deficient in this vitamin. Statistically, you will reduce your chances of getting cancer and the flu by 75% with adequate vitamin d3 in your blood.

Getting good sleep is very important. Reducing the sugar and carbs in your diet to 75 grams per day and increasing consumption of good fats is very important.

The most important thing is to make sure you are getting good minerals in your diet. This is extremely hard in the U.S. today due to poor agricultural farming techniques using chemical fertilizers and insecticides. This has literally destroyed the food supply and we have now lost 50% of the antioxidants in the last 25 years in our food supply.

Can I blend and drink a red pepper to improve my immune system? So my immune system isnt great, i am allergic to fruit , so there arent many things that contain vitamin C that i can eat/drink.
But i can eat red pepper. I was just wondering if i am able to blend it and drink it, as a big vitamin C boost to my body as i have a terrible cold at the moment.

How to improve my immune system? I always seem to be ill, at least once every 2 months and sometimes even once a month. I always have warts and verrucas and they are impossible to get rid of, I've heard this is because I have a weak immune system. Do you think I have a weak immune system? I'm average weight and average height and exercise a bit, and I'm 14. is there anything I can do to stop this or improve this?

Awww, no darling warts and verruccas are nothing to do with your immune system, so dont worry, you can get some very good over the counter remedies from pharmacists that will get rid of those annoying warts, or you can get a prescription from your doctor.

To help your immune system, make sure you get a good balance of rest, exercise, fresh air and try to eat as healthy as possible, cut out sugar, junk food and cut down on carby, starchy foods, but eat plenty of vegetables, fruit, protein (meat, fish, eggs, bio yogurt,cheese, tofu, nuts and seeds) and never use margarine or processed oils, healthiest fats are butter, unprocessed coconut oil, ghee, cold pressed oils on salads. Drink plenty water, diluted squash, fruit/herbal teas and you will be doing your best to support your body to be healthy inside and out.
(Right now berries are cheap and plentiful, eat lots of them, they are packed with vitamins/minerals and anti-oxidants to really boost your immune system.)

If one eats rotten food in a regular basis, would his body eventually get used to it? It doesn't have to be like 1 kg of rotten food everyday, something like a small portion every week. It could be of different things.
My point is, we know that there are different organisms there, but they cannot be all deadly, so some of them would cause more harm than others. The body can overcome some problems naturally, so why couldn't it improve its immune system by being systematically exposed to a specific situation?
