Women and Colon Cleansing, Women and Colonic Health

By: Nadia Alterio

90% of all sickness and disease begins inside an unclean colon.

Toxins and waste build up in your colon just like they do in the pipes of your home. Both demand immediate attention or the results can be disastrous.

Colon cancer is second only to lung cancer in terms of cancer deaths in the U.S., claiming the lives of nearly 50,000 men and women annually.

Have you ever said to yourself, "I'm not constipated or backed-up. I go to bathroom everyday.

I don't need a colon cleansing" ...or do you? Keep reading to find out if you're toxic!

The benefits of colon hydrotherapy

The colon plays a remarkable role in our body's health. The condition of our colon has very significant effects on every organ in the human body and on our sense of well being in general.

Despite what you may think or your daily bowel movements, many people are not aware of the fact that they need a good colon cleansing. Most people don't realize that the complete length of their colon is wedged with old, hardened fecal matter that only leaves a narrow enough channel for small, softer feces to pass through. Failure to cleanse your colon is like having an internal garbage dumping grounds within you left to accummulate as the years pass.

Your colon is the sewage system of your body. If the wastes in your colon are allowed to build up, they will decay and be absorbed through the walls of your colon and into your bloodstream. These toxins can poison your brain and nervous system so that you become depresses, weak, irritable, heavy and lethargic.

Your breath becomes foul because the toxins poison your lungs, you become bloated and distressed because the toxins have accummulated in your digestive tract, and your skin becomes sallow and unhealthy because of the toxins floating around in your blood. Every organ in your body is affected. You feel and look older, your joints become still and painful, your eyes get dull and your thinking becomes sluggish. Thus, the joy of living is no more!

Are you toxic?

Symptoms associated with toxic buildup and constipation:

Fatigue, Headaches, Irritablility, Anxiety, Nervousness, Gas-Belching or Flatulence!

Nausea and Abdominal Discomfort, Protruding, Tender or Rigid Abdomen,

Bad or Sagging Posture, INSOMNIA, Skin Blemishes, Acne, Sallow Complexion

Dark Circles Under Eyes, Brittle Hair and Nails, BAD BREATH!

Coated Tongue, Body Odors, Cold Hands and Feet, Lower Back Pain,

Menstrual Problems, High or Low Blood Pressure, Swollen Legs, Lack of Sexual Response

Lack of Interest in Work or Life, Loss of Memory, Difficulties Concentrating, Overweight Or Obese,

Underweight, Poor Appetite, Neuritis and Neuralgia (aches and pains throughout the body)

A healthy colon is important

The years of poor dietary habits, stress, little exercise, illnesses, smoking or drinking, pill popping, indigestion, constipation, the use of laxatives, etc. is all very taxing on the colon. When this becomes overburdening to your colon, it will no longer function as it's supposed to. Undigested food and body wastes accumulate, harden and become fixed into the walls of your colon further hindering complete elimination from the body.

Wondering where those extra pounds on you came from?

Over time, accumulated fecial matter causes the colon to become distorted in shape as anywhere from 5 to 40 pounds of matter can accumulate. This puts an unnecssary strain on the surrounding organs, the nervous system and even interferes with the absorption of essential nutrients from the colon.

As time passes and further fecial matter accumulates in the colon, excessive fermentation and putrefacation occurs which leads to the condition known as autointoxication. The toxins from this accumulated fecal matter are absorbed into the bloodstream and spread throughout the body. This then results in the weakening of the body and an open invitation to a whole slew of immune system-related diseases.

Structural, functional and metabolic imbalances are manifested in various forms. The effects of autointoxication and constipation in the colon reslts in either ballooning, colitis, diverticulitis, mucosal dysfunction, spastic bowel, strictures and ulceration.

A toxic colon will also affect the frequency at which you get colds, the flu and it will reduce your body's ablity to recover from illnesses as quick as it should. If left unchecked, serious problems can arise, but there are ways to restore colonic health and thus your body to it's optimal health.

The benefits of colon irrigation

Colon Irrigation is a method of colon cleansing and detoxification. Water is filtered through the intestine while the abdominal area is massaged thus softening and loosening the old impacted fecal matter and toxins built up in the colon. As your colon is cleansed, the process of autointoxication and its resulting health problems are reversed. The colon then repairs itself and and will start to function properly again.

Have you ever had colon hydrotherapy? What did you think, and would you do it again? And how big is the end that they stick in your bum?

I assume you mean a colonic as opposed to an enema bag that you do at home. (I have done both.) In rare occasions, people have negative reactions to a colonic. I heard of one woman who had a spastic colon and had to be hospitalized after having a colonic. There a similar cases that you can google if you like. However, maybe you just want to cleanse and don't have a medical issue with your colon. In that case, you will probably be fine.

I have had about 10 colonics in the course of about 2 years. I always felt great after a colonic, but 1 or 2 days later I was back to feeling "normal," whatever that is. I felt somewhat disillusioned with colonics, like it was a temporary "fix" or even a temporary "high" with no lasting health benefits.

So use your intuition. If it feels like the right thing to do, go for it.

Have you been diagnosed with drug induced Lupus ? !0 years ago began having problem with elevated blood pressure. Was treated with the usually prescribed meds. Within the past ten years I have had a variety of unusual and often preplexing symptoms that the doctors couldn't find good answers for. Lots of guesses and lots of unsuccessful treatments and increased frustration and misery until recently. The diagnosis is drug induced Lupus and it is believed to be caused by my blood pressure meds. Bingo. The symptoms have developed over the same period I've been on the meds. My question is: Any known effective alternatives for Blood Pressure Control? Anyone else with Lupus have bizarre skin and hair folllicle issues? Any one know a reputable doctor in Kansas City Missouri to advise on alternative treatments? Any one know of a web site to purchase alternative B/P treatments that you or someone you know have had personal experience with? Are there suggestions for a great support website for Lupus?

Hi WIngsOfGrace

Here are some ideas to heal the issue. Also learning about detoxifying the blood by doing colon and liver cleanses will change your health forever.

Cause
Food allergies (there is a 100 percent correlation between lupus and food allergies), rheumatoid arthritis, other connective tissue diseases, parasites, candidiasis, bowel problems, and digestive enzyme deficiencies can create symptoms that mimic or exacerbate SLE. Migraines, epilepsy, and psychoses must also be ruled out before a proper course of treatment can be decided upon.

Both forms of lupus primarily strike young women (90% of cases) and young children.

The drugs hydralazine, procainamide, and beta blockers can cause false-positive readings of SLE, and can also produce a lupus-like condition that disappears when the drugs are no longer taken. Birth control pills and environmental stresses can also exacerbate lupus symptoms.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Natural Cures

Diet: Eat an organic, whole foods diet. Also avoid overeating and limit your intake of dairy, beef products, and polyunsaturated oils. Also screen for food allergies and avoid all foods to which you are allergic or sensitive. Increase your intake of vegetables, especially green, yellow, and orange, and consume non-farm-raised fish several times a week.

Herbs: Supplementation with Swedish bitters with each meal can increase hydrochloric acid production. Also drink an infusion of nettle twice a day. Other useful herbs include echinacea, goldenseal, licorice, pau d`arco, and red clover

Hydrotherapy: Hydrotherapy is the application of water, ice, steam and hot and cold temperatures to maintain and restore health. Treatments include full body immersion, steam baths, saunas, sitz baths, colonic irrigation and the application of hot and/or cold compresses. Hydrotherapy is effective for treating a wide range of conditions and can easily be used in the home as part of a self-care program. Many Naturopathic Physicians, Physical Therapists and Day Spas use Hydrotherapy as part of treatment.

Hyperthermia: Hyperthermia involves artificially creating fever in the body for the purpose of boosting immune function. Hyperthermia can be a highly effective method of eliminating toxins and heavy metals, as well as infectious bacteria and viruses that cannot survive in elevated body temperatures.

*Purified water is essential for any hydrotherapy or hyperthermia treatment. Remedies for Treating Chlorinated Bath Water offers clear instructions and recommendations.

Juice Therapy: Drink the juice of carrot, celery, flaxseed oil, black currant oil, and garlic.

Nutritional Supplementation: Hydrochloric acid (HCL) deficiency is common in people with lupus, therefore HCL supplements with each meal is advised. Other useful nutrients include vitamin A with beta carotene, vitamin C and bioflavonoids, vitamin B complex, vitamin B5, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, calcium, magnesium, selenium, zinc, essential fatty acids, proteolytic enzymes taken away from meals, digestive enzymes taken with meals, and the amino acids L-cysteine, L-methionine, and L-cystine.

Topical Treatment: PABA cream applied topically can help ease symptoms.

Hi Kast

Here are some ideas on how to heal your issue. Be sure to do a colon and liver cleanse to clean out the toxins in the bowel and blood. You can heal yourself with some education on natural healing and some action steps by yourself. Ive seen it done many times.

Cause
Food allergies (there is a 100 percent correlation between lupus and food allergies), rheumatoid arthritis, other connective tissue diseases, parasites, candidiasis, bowel problems, and digestive enzyme deficiencies can create symptoms that mimic or exacerbate SLE. I suggest several at-home hyperthermia treatments.

Colon Cleansing? How do I find a doctor that does colon cleansing in my area?
I'm in Detroit, MI.

mzadicktiv

Admin 24.03.2008. 22:30

Congratulations for taking a proactive step in locating a local doctor to perform a colon cleansing.

On a serious note, colon cleansing helps to eliminate fecal matter that may have accumulated over time. Carrying around pounds of fecal matter is not good for a healthy body. Not only does accumulated fecal matter cause illness and discomfort, it also encourages parasites and bacteria to grow and reproduce in our bodies - which could lead to even more health problems.

Colon cleansing offers many advantages for your health such as increased energy levels and improved digestion. You can read more about other benefits here: http://www.womans-health.net/best-colon-cleanse.htm

A local listing of the Colonic Network in the Detroit area can be found here: http://www.colonic.net/State.asp?State=MI

Good luck!

Admin 11.12.2006. 03:36

Hi Jennie

Here are some ideas to heal your condition. Be sure to clean the toxins out of the blood with a colon and liver cleanse as well.

Cause
Abnormal immune response is believed be a possible cause of hypothyroidism. The exact cause is not known, but certain antibodies from the immune system will launch an assault on the thyroid, disturbing hormone production. Lumps or tumors that form on the thyroid also disrupt hormone production. Temporary hyperthyroidism can be caused by infection or inflammation, and certain prescription drugs.

Hyperthyroidism is less common than Hypothyroidism, yet for both diseases, women appear to be more susceptible than men. Be aware that a malfunctioning thyroid may be the cause of recurring illnesses.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Natural Cures

Diet: Eat an organic, whole foods diet, emphasizing foods that naturally suppress excess thyroid hormone production. Such foods include broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, kale, mustard greens, rutabagas, spinach, turnips, soybeans, peaches, and pears. Eliminate dairy products, over consumption of wheat products, coffee, tea, and caffeinated soft drinks.

I suggest several at-home hydrotherapy treatments.

Homeopathy: The homeopathic remedy Thyroidium is very helpful in assisting in proper thyroid regulation.

Juice Therapy: Drink carrot, celery, spinach, and parsley juice; or juice made from a combination of cabbage, watercress, and spinach.

Nutritional Supplementation: The following nutrients can help regulate thyroid function: vitamin A, vitamin B complex, vitamin B1 (thiamine), vitamin C, calcium, magnesium, choline, trace minerals, iodine, kelp, and thyroid glandulars.

Alternative Professional Care
If your symptoms persist despite the above measures, seek the help of a qualified health professional. The following professional care therapies have all been shown to be useful for treating hyperthyroidism: Acupuncture, Biofeedback Training, Homeopathy, Magnetic Field Therapy, Naturopathic Medicine, Qigong, and Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Diet: Eat an organic, whole foods diet, emphasizing foods that naturally suppress excess thyroid hormone production. Such foods include broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, kale, mustard greens, rutabagas, spinach, turnips, soybeans, peaches, and pears. Eliminate dairy products, over consumption of wheat products, coffee, tea, and caffeinated soft drinks.

The following professional care therapies have all been shown to be useful for treating hyperthyroidism: Acupuncture, Biofeedback Training, Homeopathy, Magnetic Field Therapy, Naturopathic Medicine, Qigong, and Traditional Chinese Medicine.
