Writing Guitar Solos

Points to Remember When Writing Guitar Solos

Solos of guitars are a necessary thing/element. Without good solos, the scope of good guitar playing does not get realized. Guitar solos, as a person exposed to music may be aware, are any piece of music or even a music piece in entirety that is written for any guitar- either electric or an acoustic one. Writing guitar solos can even entail a musical or melodious passage or section or a whole written for a guitar, per se. Is that not a fabulous way to add on to a guitar performance, by adding good solos, one that is written to specifically make a musical piece increase its harmony!

People today can write tailor made solos to suit the songs that they wish to perform on the guitar. There are points to be remembered, for those looking to write guitar solos and they are as mentioned below:

• Learn the scales of the chords: This is one of the basic and initial steps to writing a solo.

• Use and remember other guitarists for deriving inspiration. This helps any writer or musician. Imitation is, after all, the best form of flattery and one may imitate certain styles that were obvious in the performances of their inspiration. (In this case, inspiration means the guitarist/s that you take inspiration from)

• Jot down ideas on a notebook or a pad. Think and make a note of all the ideas you come up with, it does not matter if the ideas are workable or not, just make a note of whatever idea arises into your mind.

• Record what you have in mind for a good solo, after filtering ideas and making a demo of the solo. (demo means demonstration)

• Make corrections and modification; in other words do the rightful editing to make your solo sound good and effective.

• Mainly, make sure the solo you have written gels with the song that you want to use the solo for.

Here is harmoniously bidding a goodbye until our next musical encounter or maybe more on writing guitar solos for songs! Ciao.
