What do you do when you get up in the morning? Is it the same thing every day?Collectively, we as a people are zombies. We live our lives unconsciously most of the time, doing what we do out of habit or by controlled reflex from historical data in our memory banks. This is rapidly changing. Recently, there has been an explosion of books, teachings, professions, and realizations that we are ASLEEP. The good news is... we can wake up!There is a part of us that is in direct contact with the Universe. Each of us have the ability to tune in and be much more aware of what we do and how we do it. The first step in this process is to watch carefully and catch your self being asleep. Start with the simple things like negative emotions. When we allow negative emotions into our life (anger, jealousy, fear) we are asleep! These emotions are so destructive to us and our environment that there is little chance that we are consciously allowing these destructive emotions into our lives. So it then follows we must be asleep and doing these things automatically. Where they come from and how we learn them is another story for another time, but let's just say each of us knows the difference. How alive are you? How much are you enjoying your life? How much do you participate in that enjoyment? How much do you contribute to that enjoyment? You have heard me say, time and again, that life is perfect because we have the ability to create our own lives. When I look at the people who just do not seem to grasp this concept, I have to wonder why. I have come to believe the reason for this is that they are asleep and unable to wake up!I have had clients come to me with the desire to change their lives, to improve, to grow, to advance but who simply never reached their goals. It used to bother me, professionally, until I realized the reason why. They were so deeply asleep they could not wake up. They were so immersed in habits and automatic processes that they could not accept the idea that their lives were in their control.Making conscious choices about every little thing in your life is how to take control. Even if you make the choice to be asleep about a choice (if that makes sense) is making a choice. Routine is comfort. Choice is hard. Habits are easy. Breaking life-long habits is extremely difficult. Until you get the hang of it, watching your self do the things you do in your sleep all day long is mentally exhausting. However, you have the power to wake up. Will you use it?Wake up - and smell the roses! As always,Your online Coach and Friend,Miami PhillipsFounder of Creative MastermindsEmail: coach@creativemasterminds.com
