Dating Site Review: Udate

Dating Site Review: Udate

 by: Matt Matcherson

Udatians often complain about the slowness of Udate's messenger "whispers", but it’s always been one of my favorite dating places! I've simply had the best luck connecting with this format...and the old twin site kiss.com.

Kiss.com was absorbed into match.com, touted for a while as the "New kiss.com". I mention this because for a while Kiss and Udate were identical style sites with different members. Now the match.com site has "powered by udate" tacked up here and there. I have no inside scoop, but it does make you wonder if Udate's days are limited. I would hate to lose this site because it is really a fun and simple place to connect.

It's easy to see who is online matching your criteria or who browsed you. You are also notified which “favorites” are online. It is so easy to get into spontaneous live whispering here that many members hide their photos from non-friends when the number of contacts becomes a nuisance. Then if things slow down for them they make the pics visible to all again. A technique I've noticed women using anyway!

If you haven’t visited Udate lately...

You may want to give Udate another look. They have fixed the whispers system and you can quickly exchange words now without waiting. With the old system I would sometimes say something stupid and the box would go dead! No chance to further explain. Also in the flow of a narrative one person and then the other may go on and on with a story. It’s nice to let that happen and be able to interject other comments freely. A much more natural way to whisper!

The new look is bolder looking with brighter graphics.

The encounters page has been broken into a couple tabbed pages. "Who has been looking at me" and "who you I've been looking at" The number of results per page is also more limited, but yes the site is much faster now!

Udate isn't the biggest site out there but it remains a great place to meet people.
