So you found the perfect apartment, great location, right price, safe neighborhood. One problem, though, it is pretty small, with limited storage space. Not to worry, there are a lot of solutions to space issues.
Begin by checking with the landlord to see if there is a storage facility on site. It might cost a little bit extra, but it will be well worth it not to have the stuff you do not need on a daily basis getting in the way. If there is a storage area, make sure it is secure and dry so that your possessions do not get ruined or stolen. If there is no facility on site look into a local storage option. Some storage warehouses even bring a portable unit to you and retrieve it when loaded. Most have reasonable rates.
For your everyday items or possessions you do not want to store, obtain organizers for your closets. These will prevent clutter and maximize space to store as much as possible. Also chests that can double as furniture are handy for storing items such as clothing and magazines. Some beds even come with storage compartments below the mattress that allow you to utilize otherwise useless space.
Other space-saving ideas include mounting your television from the ceiling. This eliminates the need for a cumbersome television stand and takes advantage of space that would otherwise go to waste. Similarly, recessed lighting make most lamps obsolete and is ideal for studio and one-bedroom apartments.
