Use Electric Pressure Cookers for Better Control and Convenience

The electric pressure cooker permits you to time the cooking process with more control. Many models have digital controls that allow easier monitoring of the steam pressure and the ability to permit preset cooking times. Multiple courses can be cooked simultaneously. Courses can be introduced at different times, depending on how long that particular course needs to cook. For example, meats typically have the longer cook times, while vegetables have shorter times. Start with the meat, and after releasing the pressure, add the vegetables or other courses.

Many models come with an added safety feature. A locking system is activated when the lid is closed. The lid can not be opened while the unit is till under pressure. Once the pressure is released, the lid must be manually unlocked. This helps to lower the risk that the user will be injured by steam or scalding water. Many have a fast release feature to allow small amounts of steam to be released enabling staggered cooking times.

Most variations of electric pressure cookers have removal pots. The pots are generally made of stainless steel or have another non stick surface. Not only are these pots easier to clean, but they can also be placed on a stove for additional browning. Some models have browning cycles that eliminate the need for a stove to cook and entire meal.

Cookers come in different sizes ranging from 2 Qt. to 8.5 Qt units. Most recipes are based on a 5 or 6 Qt. cooker so you will need to scale down (or up) the recipe you are using if you are using a model that is smaller than 5 Qt. or larger than 6 Qt.

One benefit to using a pressure cooker is in that they are excellent way to prepare less expensive cuts of meat. The steam pressure breaks down the meat fibers and leaves the meat tender. Since the cooker uses steam to cook, there are no added oils or fats, thus making for a leaner healthier meal.

In summary, electric pressure cookers provide the benefits of stove top models but with an added degree of control. Combine control with ease of use and the cooker will provide years of pleasure in any kitchen.
