PS3 3-D System Upgrade

The PlayStation 3 stands out as the top gaming system that's 3D capable. The Xbox 360 Console has 3-D compatibility, but Microsoft does not plan to launch many video games that support 3-d gameplay. The PS3 currently has lots of 3-d video games on the market, plus more are anticipated to be sold in 2011. However, before you can begin playing 3-d video games (or watch 3-d Blu-rays) with your PlayStation 3, you'll need to up-date your system firmware.

The 3-d firmware up-dates for your PlayStation 3 were launched in 2010, so if you haven't completed an update in a while, you may want to do one to guarantee 3-d compatibility. Generally, it's a smart idea to test for updates on a monthly basis. To do the update, read these instructions:

- Start-up your PlayStation 3 and navigate to the "Settings" menu, choose System Update. Elect to update via the internet (you have to be connected to the internet to download and install firmware upgrades). In case your PS3's system firmware is NOT up to date, you will be asked to download the most recent update. Begin the download.

- After finishing the download, you'll be requested to install the update, doing this will first reboot the PlayStation 3 and you will need to link your PlayStation 3 game controller to your gaming console with a USB cable.

- Following the reboot, you'll have to accept the terms and conditions and begin the system firmware install. As soon as the install is finished, you'll have to reboot your PlayStation 3 one last time. Now you're done!

With your updated PlayStation 3 system firmware, your gaming console will have 3-d gaming and 3-d Blu-ray capabilities. This is an advantage of the Ps3 because it enables you to eliminate the need for a Blu-ray or DVD player.
