Sometimes the "News" is really "No News", isn't it? I mean: where is the news in learning that Lembit Opik, the former Liberal Democrat MP, has embarked on a new career as a stand up comedian? This well-weathered "cheeky-cheeky" man has had me rocking in my boots for years! He was a Liberal Democrat, for goodness sake! You know, of the three big parties the one that got the least support, yet now, as the tail wagging the dog, calls all the shots!
Appearing at the Backstage Comedy Club in London's West End, Lembit called his style of comedy: "observational". But from a man who spent his political life sitting on top of a fence, I ask myself, what else could it be? You can see a lot from sitting on a fence, but it's only when you climb down on one side or the other that we suspect you've understood any of it!
