A book written by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice has inspired the Addams Family Musical. Andrew Lippa has written and composed its songs. All its characters are based on the comic strip 'The Addams Family'.

The premiere of The Addams Family musical was held in Chicago at Ford Center for the Performing Arts Oriental Theatre on November 13, 2009. After its tryout run, it has come to Broadway on March 4, 2010.

Synopsis Of The Addams Family Musical

The play is set in a haunted Addam's family house. Wednesday, an eighteen-year-old, has fallen in love with Lucas. She feels mixed emotions of her new love. Pugsley, the brother of Wednesday feels left out. He thinks that now his sister will devote more time to her boyfriend, which would leave no time for her to torture him. Gomez, Wednesday's father, is happy that his daughter has found love. On the night when Lucas comes to Addam's family home to have dinner with them, a lot of action takes place. There is a tiff between Lucas' parents as well as between Lucas and Wednesday. However, at the end of play, everything gets sorted out and all the couples are happy once more. Throughout the play, Gomez is sad to realize that his daughter has grown up and Morticia is seen worrying about her age and losing her importance in the family.
