My mother who is currently the President of the devotees of the Mother of Perpetual Help in San Agustin Parish, Diocese of Surigao Del Sur (Philippines) told me that I should not reject the doctrine that Christ is God because Christ is the God who became man so that He could make Himself visible to men to teach them and save them.
And I said, "If that doctrine is based on the truth written on the Bible, then I will accept, follow and live with that doctrine, however I will not hesitate to reject that doctrine if it contradicts the truth in the Bible because heresy will lead us to damnation, just like what Apostle Paul said:
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery,[a] fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, (Galatians 5:19-20, NKJV)
That's the reason why Apostle John told us to check whether a doctrine or teaching is of God or not before accepting it and living with it.
1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. (I John 4:1, ibid)
When my mother convinced me to believe what she believes, she told me three (3) things that should be checked using the Holy Bible:
1. Christ is God.
2. God became man.
3. God made Himself visible to man physically.
CHRIST IS GOD
To know whether Christ is God, let us ask first Christ: who is the only true God? And through the Bible Christ answered:
