Internet marketers nowadays have got it in their heads that promoting a website costs a lot of money. Whilst this can be true, I am going to provide tried and tested methods to get website traffic for free, with just a little bit of effort. There are many ways for you to get website traffic for free but am only going to concentrate on the essential ones.
Now don't get me wrong, I totally agree that paid advertising will get you where you want to be much faster, but if you are on a tight budget, here is what you should know:
• Exchanging links with related websites still works very well and you can do it for free. Although there is a little bit of work here, it is totally worth the trouble. Just make sure that you exchange links with websites that complement your own and aren't in competition.
• You can sell many copies of your product even without having resort to paid traffic, through joint ventures. Instead of putting all your efforts to get traffic to your website, you could simply present your offer to webmasters that already have a list and they might mail their lists on your behalf. This way you advertise your product to a large list of people without even having to pay a single dime. There will need to be a reason for them to mail for you of course, such a reciprocal mailing for example.
• If you are good at writing, you can write quality articles for other webmasters and have them publish your content along with your bio box which should contain your website URL. Therefore, if your content is good, many webmasters will want to publish your content on their sites and you get website traffic for free.
• Create an email signature and attach it to all the emails that you sent out. In your signature make sure to include your website URL so everyone can see it. Every person that you write to is a potential customer.
• A classic way to get website traffic is through RSS feeds. And a lot of people forget to do this. So make sure that you create a RSS feed and then submit it to the major RSS feed directories.
• Get website traffic by complementing your website with a blog. The way this works is by adding content to your blog and then ping it. This way, when the search engine spiders crawl your blog, your site is also indexed. Also, you could submit your blog to blog directories as well.
• Similar to the email signature method, you can get website traffic if you add your website URL to your forum profile signature. That way, whenever you post a comment on a forum your website URL is visible and people can visit your website through it.
Even though these methods can get website traffic without having to pay money, you do of course have to spend some time to get them done.
But hey, once done, you will start to see a steady increase of traffic as each day passes!
