A luxury bed and breakfast is finally available for the first time in Ocean City, America's #1 family beach resort.
The award-winning Atlantis Inn, Ocean City, New Jersey's only luxury bed and breakfast, recently celebrated their first year in operation. Originally built in 1905 by James E. Lake, one of the founders of Ocean City, the historic guesthouse has been transformed into an upscale, luxury seaside inn by ex-corporate types, Kristina and Bob Doliszny. Guests from New York, Philadelphia, and New Jersey have flocked to the new luxury inn because it offers a taste of European elegance with sparkling, brand-new amenities of the finest quality from around the world.
In its initial year of operation, the inn has won three prestigious awards and was voted the #1 place to stay in Ocean City. When I recently learned about the luxury bed and breakfast, I made plans immediately for an upscale, romantic getaway. The Atlantis Inn's website (http://www.atlantisinn.com) primed me for top-notch accommodations and service. They did not disappoint! My boyfriend, unaware of the decadent luxury ahead of us, was floored when we arrived.
The Atlantis Inn offers 10 richly appointed king and queen bedded luxury guest suites; each is decorated with an elegant and refined European flavor, including French, Italian, and Spanish themes. The fine accommodations range from the comfortable first-floor Arles room for $195 a night, to the top-notch two-room Barcelona rooftop suite for $335 during weekends in July. Guests can also rent one of the two apartment villas for a week stay.
The warm European elegance and sophistication at the inn made our stay in Ocean City our most memorable. All elegant features were recently installed and in pristine condition. Everything at the inn is brand new with the exception of two original staircases.
Amenities include complimentary lot parking, beach tags, gourmet breakfasts, and high tea. The inn also features an on-site spa with many types of massage options and facial treatments available. Guests can relax on the rocking chairs on the verandah, watch DVDs in their blissful suite, or toast the sunset on the rooftop deck. The beach, only two blocks away, provides a calming boardwalk stroll and many fun family activities.
We checked into the magnificent Barcelona suite, located on the top floor of the three-story inn. This majestic two-room suite offers a private entrance to the rooftop patio, romantic gas fireplace, and two flat-screen televisions. Fine imported Italian Anichini sheets and bedding, plush goose down pillows and comforter, and a rich mahogany and gold damask duvet create the ultimate in luxurious comfort.
Every suite flaunts the highest quality extravagant fabrics, 400 thread-count Egyptian cotton duvet covers and 300-thread-count Egyptian cotton sheeting, all by Anichini, directly imported from Milan, Italy.
In the Barcelona rooftop suite, the fine Anichini Italian linens and stunning Marengo gold and mahogany damask duvet were not only beautiful but provided a deeply restful night's sleep. The regal, solid king-sized bed and euphoric comfort it provided was the crowning highlight of this majestic bed and breakfast experience. Simply heavenly.
According to Kristina Doliszny, guests frequently ask about purchasing the Anichini bed sheets, which were imported from Italy. When Kristina inquired about the retail prices for her guests, she was surprised to learn they would cost a whopping $1,100 a set. While it's not feasible to offer them to guests at those prices, the innkeepers are proud to pamper their clients with this luxurious European treat during their stay.
A full gourmet breakfast is served in the dining room at 9:00 a.m. Guests may enjoy their breakfast inside or on the Honduran mahogany covered verandah. At our breakfast, delicious scrambled eggs, breakfast sandwiches, and sausages were presented in elegant silver pans. Fresh juices, breads, bagels, and fruit were also available. Afternoon tea and snacks are served in the dining room. The tasty afternoon spread included biscotti, muffins, chewy chocolate chip cookies, milk, and teas.
