Ooty (Udhagamandalam) is popularly known as the "Queen of hill stations" among the tourist circuits. It is the capital of Nilgiri district. There are large number of hills in the Nilgiri range which varies between 2280 and 2290 meters. Doddabetta is the highest peak which is situated at the height of 2623 meters.
