CSS is a style sheet language which is a combination of two style sheet languages, Cascading HTML Style Sheets (CHSS) and Stream-based Style Sheet Proposal (SSP).
According to many Web design Philippines experts, the advantage that made CSS more powerful than DSSSL and FOSI is that CSS allowed a document's style to be influenced by multiple style sheets. Other than CSS, many more style sheet languages were introduced in the past as well as in today's market. One of the most recognized is XSL, a style sheet language which was standardized because of its powerful styling language. There was also a style sheet language which competed with CSS to be standardized. This is the JSSS or JavaScript Style Sheets which was proposed by Netscape Communications Corporation in 1996 to provide facilities for defining the presentation of webpages. JSSS, however, fell short in its features and was eventually abandoned by Netscape.
