Three common habits to break are:
Bad Habit #1: Dry Shaving
Shaving your legs and underarms whilst dry can cause irritation, ingrown hairs, and razor burn....Ewww! Even if your about to go out and don't have the time, always use shaving cream or a natural soap to help soften the skin prior to shaving. Hand soap is generally not recommended as a softener. Soap has a tendency to dry the out skin more, dull your razor, and invite cuts. If you have to use a natural, soap free, pH-balanced wash. Also when you shave, use longer strokes rather than shorter ones as they are less stressful to the skin. Consider a shaving cream that rich in emollients and after shaving, always use a mild body lotion to soothe the shaved area.
Bad Habit #2: Ignoring Minor Sun Exposure
Sun exposure is the biggest cause of wrinkles, age spots, and dull skin. Whilst you may think that running your daily errands or walking to the car on a hot sunny day doesn't count as sun exposure, you're wrong. Every day before you leave the house, you should apply a SPF lotion, whether it be in your makeup or in your day cream, don't leave home without it. When it comes to choosing a good SPF, look at some of the less common brands they often have a higher % for protection.
Bad Habit #3: Avoiding Exfoliation
Exfoliating the skin brings out great results. Its purpose is to remove dead skin cells that have developed on the outer surface of our skin. It enhances circulation, encourages cell renewal and will reduce blotchiness, evening out the skin tone. It depends on your individual skin type as to how much you should exfoliate. However, all skin types need some sort of an exfoliation treatment, adding a little salt, sugar or cornmeal to your cleanser is a great scrub.
